2009 Regional Prosperity Conference Presentation Format Changed
Considering the current state of the local economy, retail downturns, increases in unemployment levels, lagging manufacturing and so on we have come to the decision that this year we have to do something different for our Regional Prosperity Conference. Our local business owners and operators need our support and the resources that we can make directly available to overcome local issues and get back to a strong growth position. Therefore instead of committing our time and effort to produce a huge one day exhibition we have decided to offer a range of smaller power packed functions across several months to provide direct assistance to small business. Yes, we are still having a Regional Prosperity Conference but just not in the same way as we have done it before and next year we may well return to the big one day of excitement but for this year we are going to try something completely different.
· NABEC Business Awards – were launched on Tuesday, 24th March 2009 and will be presented at a dinner on Thursday, 2nd July 2009
· Business Advisors Professional Development Day will be Thursday, 2nd July 2009 and details of the day’s activities will be released on Friday, 20th March 2009, this is still expected to attract business advisors from around Australia and New Zealand as well as South Australia.
· The NABEC Regional Prosperity Program will be released progressively via our web site and other communications detailing functions and events spread across days of the week and timelines that will make it possible for everybody who wishes to interact with our program to do so.
We apologie to all those who were looking forward to a big day out however we know you will understand that by pooling our combined resources, conserving expenditure and focusing on the immediate task of assisting small business to survive the next 12 months we will move on to a bigger and better conference next year. The intended Day 2 program to involve education and employment will be well served by another year of planning so don’t think anyone is off the hook, your support is required in the future.
To our sponsors and supporters, thank you for your contributions and support, if you wish to join us in our program over the next few months just give NABEC a call and we’ll work out a deal for you, We think everybody can win with this program. There are lots of opportunities and our conference web site www.regionalprosperity.com.au will carry details of all of our planned activities and your sponsorship. After 5 very successful years we think you will all understand that the difficulty we've had in reaching this conclusion but know in our heart of hearts this is the right thing to do this year. Small business always goes first and right now is when they need their BEC most.
